Frac Sud Collection: “Grand écart” at Espace d’Ornano

Younes Baba-Ali, Daily Wrestling, 2018, vidéo 8’12’’, collection Frac Sud — Cité de l’art contemporain

Part of the collection of the Frac Sud Collection, we are pleased to announce the inclusion of Younes Baba-Ali’s video work “Daily Wrestling'“ (2018) in the current exhibition “Grand Ecart” at Espace d’Ornano, Sisteron, France.

At the heart of the Cultural Olympiad, the Grand écart exhibition at the Espace d'Ornano temporary exhibition gallery in Sisteron brings together a dozen works from the Frac Sud collection on the theme of sport. Located above the Gallo-Roman museum's permanent exhibition, this selection highlights the tenuous links between art and sport.

Showing Senegalese wrestlers in action, Younès Baba-Ali's video questions the craze for a discipline that has been co-opted by the capitalist system, generating a growing economy in a country living well below the poverty line.
