Mbaye Diop’s works from the series ‘Colobane’ are part of the latest exhibition at Château de Nyon in Switzerland. ‘Dispute. Carte Blanche à Pierre Schwerzmann.’ is a collective exhibition curated by the Nyon-born artist Pierre Schwertzmann., who created visual dialogues between ancient and contemporary works from the museum’s collection - dialogues which are stormy, humorous or conceptual.

‘Colobane’ refers to the market located in Dakar's eponymous district. For Mbaye Diop, Colobane isn’t just a market, it’s a zone, a living entity in constant evolution. Through a precise graphic technique, Diop captures the essence of the place - the hustle and bustle of people, the energy, the ever-flowing exchanges. Each stroke is a testament to this pulsing rhythm.
